Once you've settled in, we'll schedule a pre-trek briefing at your hotel in Moshi. It's recommended to arrive at least one day before the trek begins to ensure you're well-rested and prepared. During the briefing, we'll discuss the itinerary in detail, review your equipment, and provide any necessary rentals to ensure you have everything needed for a successful trek.
After breakfast, drive from Moshi to the Rongai Gate (approximately 2.5 hours). This route is less crowded, offering a quieter and more remote starting point for your Kilimanjaro adventure. The hike starts through the pine forest, offering beautiful views of the surrounding landscapes as you ascend. You'll overnight at Rongai Camp, situated at the edge of the moorland zone.
Continue your hike as the trail starts to ascend more steeply into the moorland zone. The surrounding landscape begins to change, with the path offering magnificent views of the mountain and distant horizons. Kikelewa Camp is located near a stream, offering a peaceful setting for the night.
Spend an extra day at Kikelewa Camp for acclimatization. Take a short hike to higher elevations and return to camp to improve your body's ability to adapt to the altitude. This day is crucial for increasing your chances of a successful summit.
The hike from Kikelewa Camp to Mawenzi Tarn Camp involves a more challenging ascent. As you trek through alpine desert terrain, you'll be treated to incredible views of Mawenzi Peak, one of the highest points of Kilimanjaro. You'll overnight at Mawenzi Tarn Camp, a beautiful spot located beneath the towering Mawenzi peak.
On this day, you'll make your way toward Kibo Hut, the final campsite before the summit attempt. The path traverses the alpine desert landscape, with vast stretches of barren terrain and panoramic views. Upon arrival at Kibo Hut, you'll rest and prepare for the final summit push in the early hours of the next day.
Your summit day begins around midnight. The ascent to Uhuru Peak is a challenging and exhilarating climb, with headlamps lighting the way. After reaching the summit and witnessing breathtaking views, descend to Horombo Hut for rest and recovery.
On the final day, descend through the rainforest and return to Marangu Gate. At the gate, you'll receive your summit certificate to commemorate your incredible achievement. Afterward, a transfer back to Moshi awaits you for a well-deserved celebration.
