6-Day Machame Route Kilimanjaro Climbing: Conquer the Roof of Africa

$1,830/

per person
  • 6 Days / 5 Nights
  • Group: 4+
  • Tanzania

The 6-day Machame Route is one of Kilimanjaro's most scenic climbs, combining rainforest trails, dramatic ridgelines, high alpine camps, and a rewarding summit approach. It is a strong option for trekkers who want a challenging mountain experience with varied landscapes and excellent views.

Often called the Whiskey Route, Machame is known for its beautiful approach and demanding profile. Over six days, the route moves from dense forest into moorland, alpine desert, and finally the arctic summit zone. This version is shorter than the 7-day variation, so good fitness and a steady pace are especially important.

Our mountain team supports you throughout the climb with experienced guides, well-planned camp logistics, and close attention to safety and acclimatization. Each stage is structured to keep the journey realistic, memorable, and focused on reaching Uhuru Peak with confidence.

Highlights of the 6-Day Machame Route

  • Scenic rainforest, moorland, alpine desert, and summit-zone landscapes in one route.
  • A classic Kilimanjaro climb with excellent panoramic views across the southern side of the mountain.
  • Strong summit experience via Barafu Camp and a sunrise ascent to Uhuru Peak.
  • Guided support from an experienced mountain crew focused on safety and pace.
  • Ideal for trekkers seeking a more adventurous route than Marangu.
  • A rewarding descent through Mweka with changing scenery and a strong sense of achievement.
